I may not have been completely honest in my 'about page', but I feel it's time to come clean.
I, too, was born in Kenya.
You can get your very own here.

Over the years,I'm definitely glad that I had this blog. It was an outlet for so many things, creativity, love, rants. Especially rants.
However, I am no longer anonymous. Too many people know to find this site, and I can't blog without making sure that I've covered myself every which way so that I don't expose anything I don't want to expose. It's kind of exhausting.
I'm still going to be blogging. Or something. I know myself well enough that this is not the end. But, this, Lost in Smallness, is done. I think it was done for quite some time.
For those of you who kept on checking back in although I didn't post, who left comments and e-mailed me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Be well.

I know, I suck, right?
A decision about the fate of this blog should be coming around the end of this year.

This is going to be another wordy post. I know y'all like the pretty pictures better, but please bear with me.
I love blogs. Can you tell? The amount I read varies, of course, but I would say that there are about 5 that I check on a weekly basis, and several more that I check whenver I'm in the mood. I never ever posted those once-in-a-blue-moon blogs, because you'd think I was crazy. There is no rhyme or reason.
How was I introduced to blogs, you ask? OK, no you didn't, but just too damn bad.
Well, one fine day I was googling 7th Heaven recaps. (Shut up.) Then I found Television Without Pity. Then I found this recapper. And I found her site (which is no more, sniff). And then she linked to these two women. And then I was hooked. Just so you know, as far as I know I am not infertile, but the stories of the infertile blogosphere were very compelling to me. Are still compelling, actually. Also, I know now everything that can go wrong in a pregnancy, but I shall worry about that later. And so I read and read and read and read blogs. Many blogs. Mostly (trying to be) mommy blogs. And of course, the recapper's blog. And she also had these cool links. And one of them was to this woman's blog.
And that's the whole point of this entry. Took a while to get there, no?
And I'm officially banned to start a sentence with 'and' again.
It's a pity that the newest entry on her blog is a bit sad, because she is FREAKING HILARIOUS. But then she stopped blogging. The reason being that she was depressed about breaking up with her long-time boyfriend. Which sucks, obviously.
But she wrote something interesting:
And, I've been fucking dreading saying this to you, sweet internet, because I hate to disappoint anyone. I've put this life in front of you, and that life just didn't work out. In fact, I've been terrified of admitting my failure for so long, I've actually been avoiding my own website for fear of the awful things that are inevitably going on in the comments
I feel exactly the same way. No, I've not gone through a break-up, but I am also in fear of putting myself out there. It's a scary world and a possibly even scarier internet. During that stage in my life which can be called "I-Give-A-Damn-About-A-Certain-Missing-American-Teenager" obliterated every impulse I had of blogging without care. Of writing about me, just to write. There is a reason why pictures are so prominent. They are safe and pretty. Bonus!
There is about 90% of my life that you, who only knows me through this blog, don't know about. Crappy day at work? Warning! Danger of being dooced! I won't write about any romantic interests / crushes because I want to protect that other person. Especially if the object of my affection isn't aware of uh, my affection. (Not the case right now, for those of you who do know me and are possibly wondering.)
Also, nobody wants to be a failure
Edited to add: WELL, one should also not blog and watch television at the same time, because I totally wasn't done with the post. So if it wasn't for the comment I wouldn't even have known that it actually posted. Pressing the right button is hard.
ANWAY.
As I was saying, nobody wants to be a failure, and even though it's all between computer screens, you do feel like you owe the people reading this something. And to say, whoops, guess what, I couldn't make things work (or feeling like that), is a very hard and brave thing to do. And I will freely admit that I haven't reached that point of bravery (yet).
So rock on, Miss Doxie.

I do wonder sometimes what kind of pleasure people take from this:
"WERE GOING TO BL0W UP YOUR HOUSE AND SH00T
YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY TO DEA9TH FOR LETTING
J0RAN VANDERSL00T AND THE KALP0ES K1LL
NAT6ATALEE H0LL0WAY. TELL A FRIEND B1TCH.
YOU WILL ALL BE MURD9ERED SOON"
<Sigh>
Well, George888, congratulations, you're my newest commenter who is banned. It's a short list, but you're most definitely on it!

I haven't written about the Euro 2008 yet. The Netherlands is through the first round, but then, they have been through the first round many a times in football championships. Today they play the second round and oh my God I so hope that they go through. At least I bought the t-shirt and flag for something.
But what is amazing is the invasion, and I do not use that word lightly, of Dutch supporters in Basel, Switzerland. 150.000 people. ONE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND PEOPLE, all for Oranje. That's something! But the coolest thing that I have read so far is that the Algemeen Dagblad is reporting that amid those thousands of supporters a city cleanup team of twenty have offered their services to the citizens of Basel. Now that is sportsmanship. (Link in Dutch.)
